U11 Select Seasonal Overview

U11 Select Seasonal Overview

Training

Teams train twice weekly for 90-minutes each, in their own geographical location.

Teams train 6-8 months a year based on their league and summer tournament schedule.  Each team will typically get together for a few sessions after tryouts and then take a break for the Summer.  Once the tournament schedule is finalized teams will training 2-3 weeks leading into the tournament. Starting the third week of August teams will start training on a weekly basis to get ready for league play and will continue to train through the end of October.  Teams will take the Winter months off and will resume training again the first of March through April.

Games

U11 teams compete in local leagues, such as the ISL-North and PSPL Inland Copa leagues. We compete against other teams across the landscape of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho.

U11 teams will also compete in tournaments such as the the Northwest Cup (Spokane); the Pend Oreille Cup (Sandpoint); the Blue Mountain Exchange (Tri-Cities);  You can expect to attend roughly three tournaments annually with U11 teams. The Final tournament schedule will be decided between the coach and the Select director and will be announced at the team formation meeting after tryouts.

Travel

With tournament travel, teams can expect to travel outside of our Eastern Washington/North Idaho bubble maybe twice, once to Seattle and or Sandpoint.

League home games will be in Spokane, with some travel for away games based on the teams in the league.  For league you could play in Moscow, Lewiston, Moses Lake, Sandpoint, CDA, etc...  This travel is only for your away games in which you will play half of your games at home.

Competitiveness and program targets

The U11 program is a step up in competition from our SDP (U10) program. The target of the U11 teams will be to familiarize themselves with and impose the club’s style of play and philosophy on the game in these more competitive environments.

Objectives such as building from the back, creating numerical superiority in attack and defending, and creating high quality chances in the final third are meant to be ironed out in this program.

Cost

The cost for U11 teams in the Select programs of Spokane Sounders is $445 for club dues. Uniform costs will be around $200.
