Spokane Sounders era kicks off with a bang

The new-look Spokane Sounders era kicked off on the opening weekend of June with three high school boys teams playing in the Showcase of Champions at 60 Acres Soccer Complex in Redmond, Wash.

The new sides, still meshing from the combined efforts of the Shadow and FC Spokane, saw some mixed results in their first outing, but the 1998 Boys (pictured above) put forth an impressive effort to finish tied atop the U19 Division with a 3-0-1 record. After a 2-2 draw against the 1998 Greater Seattle Surf, they ran off three consecutive wins, downing Crossfire Reserves (3-0), Eastside Timbers (1-0) and Crossfire Premier 98/99 (6-1).

The 2000 Boys (pictured below) were 1-2-1 in their U17/U16 bracket and the combined 1998/99 squad was winless in their U18 division.
