The Spokane Sounders are excited to announce the addition of Mac Phillips as Goalkeeper Coach. The recent William & Mary graduate joins the Shadow after spending three years as goalkeeper coach for Virginia Legacy Soccer Club.
As a keeper for the Tribe at William & Mary, Phillips was an award-winning netminder, earning the team's Andy Crapol award and was named to the Colonial Athletic Association's All-Rookie team in 2013 after starting all 19 games his sophomore season after redshirting as a freshman. His nine shutouts that season tied a program record for clean sheets in a single season. He would miss the 2014 season but return to play 15 games in 2015 and two his senior year, finishing with an 18-11-5 record.
Phillips holds a National 'E' License and was the VLSC Advanced Development Program coach at Virginia Legacy, coaching children 5-9 years old with higher soccer potential. He was the club's goalkeeper coach from 2015-2017.
While coaching for VLSC he also played for the club's National Premier Soccer League team, Virginia Legacy, from 2014-2017.
Phillips is also currently serving as the Goalkeeper Coach for North Idaho College.
