FINAL RCL WINTER UPDATE & MORE (April)

It was a successful season for quite a few Sounders sides this winter, battling through the competition as well as the elements to win a couple division titles and post several other top three finishes. Capturing championships were the G01-A and G02-A ladies, who finished atop the table in the U16 and U15 Division 1 leagues.

In tournament play, a few teams travelled down to Las Vegas to play in the Players' Showcase.

Also getting underway in March were the State & President's Cup tournaments. Look for an update on those tourneys soon!

Sounders G98-A
The month started off a little rough with a pair of 2-1 road losses to Three Rivers and GS Surf the opening weekend of the month, but the ladies quickly rebounded the following week with a pair of wins, 2-1 and 3-0, at NorthWest United and Washington Rush, respectively. They wrapped things up with a 1-0 forfeit victory from Crossfire Premier and a 7-1 rout of Washington Rush to finish third in U19 Division 1.

Sounders G99-A
It was a dominant month in U18 Division as the ladies posted six wins by a total margin of 24-3. They opened it up with back-to-back wins at home against WPFC and GS Surf and added another win against visiting Seattle United before finishing out the campaign away from home with wins at Kent United, Three Rivers and GS Surf to finish second.

The C team wrapped up their Division 3 campaign with a split month. They posted wins, 3-0 and 4-1, at home and away against Snohomish United before dropping the final two against WPFC away and at home.

Sounders G01-A / Sounders G01-B / Sounders G01-C
The A squad captured the U16 Division 1 Championship with a dominant final month in which they outscored the opposition 15-2 in five victories at home. It started with 4-0 and 1-0 wins against RVS and Seattle United the first weekend of the month. The following week they downed Eastside FC 3-1 and then closed March and the campaign with 5-0 and 2-1 wins against Crossfire Premier and PacNW, completing the season unbeaten at 11-0-3. The B side kept their challenge for the U16 Division 3 championship in the mix with a great start to the month, winning 5-0 and 5-1 at Crossfire Premier and WPFC in the first weekend of the month. A week later, they went 2-0-1 with a tough slate, winning 3-1 at GS Surf and earning a 1-1 draw at Crossfire Premier in the same day Saturday before posting a 3-0 win against RVS the next day. Facing Three Rivers twice in the final weekend in a showdown for the title, the ladies came up short on both occasions, finishing second in the league. The C squad finished the campaign well in Division 4 with a 4-2-0 record for the month. They topped PacNW before sweeping GS Surf on back-to-back weekends. A trip to Blackhills resulted in a narrow 1-0 loss before they split on the final weekend of the campaign, falling 1-0 to second-place Three Rivers and downing Snohomish United 2-0.

Sounders G02-A / Sounders G02-B / Sounders G02-C
The A squad captured the U15 Division 1 Championship with an excellent final month. They posted 2-0 wins against visiting GS Surf and Seattle United to kick things off and then nipped Crossfire Premier 1-0. The finished things up in the final weekend with a 3-1 win at Crossfire Premier and a 1-1 draw against PacNW, who they tied atop the table in points, but defeated 1-0 earlier in the season. After going winless in their first six matches, the B squad posted a complete reversal in the final month with an entirely home slate, going 5-1 to close things out. They won four consecutive against WPFC, Whatcom, Washington Rush and Kitsap Alliance with only one goal allowed before dropping a narrow 3-2 decision to RVS on the final weekend in a split that included a 1-0 season finale win against PacNW. It was a split finish for the C squad as they performed much better at home. They handed 2-1 defeats to Three Rivers and PacNW the first weekend before falling at Snohomish United and Harbor Premier the following week. After falling to Harbor Premier, they posted a pair of draws the following day against Eastside and Whatcom. The final game was a loss to RVS.

They posted draws against WPFC and Washington Rush on the road along with a home draw against PacNW and on the road against Crossfire Yakima. A nearly unbeaten 3-1-5 campaign, unfortunately, left them four points shy of the top spot.
