Cup season is in full swing with the first set of championships being determined last week and the final set ready to play out this weekend. Four teams are headed to Starfire in a couple days, but one returned to Spokane on Sunday with a trophy as the G03-A girls came away as the Division 1 President's Cup champions.

Second-place finishers in their group, the young ladies won their quarterfinal to reach the Final Four where they won a tiebreaker shootout against PacNW on Saturday following a 2-2 draw.

In the championship, Emma Theilbahr put the Shadow up early with a strike in the 12th minute of the contest. From there, Mercedes Cullen, who had a shutout performance in the semifinal shootout, kept Whatcom off the board with Erica Frahm also providing a standout performance in leading the team.

ROUND-UP :: BOYS

President's Cup

In the U12 Division 1 tournament the Shadow B03-A side edged PacNW 1-0 in the semifinals at Starfire to reach the championship game thanks to a free kick bent over the wall and off the post from 20 yards out by Kylle Flynn. Flynn also scored in the Final off a Wyatt Raczykowski corner on Sunday, however, the Shadow came up just short in a 2-1 loss to RVS in a game where the Shadow dominated in possession, but were unlucky in trying to rally from an early two-goal deficit.

ROUND-UP :: GIRLS

State Cup

Having already clinched a semifinal berth, the G97-A ladies wrapped up U18 tournament group play Saturday with a 1-1 draw at WPFC. They will face Seattle United in the Final Four Saturday.

In the U17 bracket, the G98-A side got a big 4-1 victory at Seattle United on Sunday in their final group game, but came up two points short of advancing to the semifinals of the tournament.

The G00-A ladies downed Crossfire Premier on the road Saturday 2-0 to advance to the U15 Final Four. They will face Seattle United at Starfire in the semifinals.

President's Cup

The fun keeps going for the G99-B ladies in the U16 Division 2 bracket where a loss at Kent United, 2-0, the previous week left them as a wild card entrant to the quarterfinals with another trip to Kent United once again. This time, they bested Kent United 2-1 to reach the semifinals this weekend where they will face Blackhills FC Saturday.

In the U15 Division 1 tournament the G00-B side won on the road against PacNW, 2-1, in the quarterfinals to advance to the Final Four. They will play RVS Saturday at Starfire in the semifinals.

In the Division 2 bracket, the G03-B side were wild card entries into the quarterfinals, but advanced to the Final Four last weekend, where their run came to a end in a 3-1 defeat to fellow east-side entrant Three Rivers.
