The Shadow First Teams return to the road for the third week of action in the Northwest Premier League and Evergreen Premier League, traveling to face the Olympic Force in Bremerton Saturday and the South Sound Shock in Tacoma on Sunday.

Shadow WFT at South Sound Shock – Sunday, 1:00
The ladies hit the road with a perfect record through its first two games, outscoring the opposition 14-2. They are coming off a 9-0 win over visiting Twin City last weekend and won their season opener 5-2 in their first road trip at Yakima the week prior.
The squad is largely unchanged from the group that has played in the first two contests, though Spokane native Kasey Ames is set to take the field this weekend along with Gonzaga University’s standout striker Karley Baggerly. Sienna Tanner of Whitworth will likely get the start as a new addition to a goalkeeping crew that had previously been comprised of Development Players.
In their lone contest on the young season, Olympic played Seattle Stars to a scoreless draw on the road on opening weekend. South Sound, meanwhile, sits second in the league with a 1-0-1 record and is the only other side with more than three points in the table. They blanked visiting Twin City 2-0 to open the campaign and drew 1-1 last weekend on the road against Seattle Stars.

Shadow MFT at South Sound Shock – Sunday, 4:00
As has been the case in the previous two championship seasons, the Shadow Men’s First Team is off to a slow start. The team heads into the weekend winless, hoping to turn the season around much as the team did in the inaugural year in the league in which the Shadow lost twice at home before making the same trip to Bremerton and then Tacoma. In 2014 they downed WestSound (replaced by Olympic in 2015) 3-0 and then tied South Sound 1-1. Since that contest, the Shadow and Shock have been dueling for the EPLWA title consistently.
Saturday’s contest is the home opener for Olympic, which has split so far with a 3-0 win at 4-1 win over Seattle Stars and a 3-1 loss to Bellingham. South Sound is also 1-1, dropping their opener 2-1 to visiting Vancouver Victory, who defeated the Shadow last weekend 3-0, and rebounding to down Seattle Stars 2-1 on the road last weekend.
The Shadow roster has a lot of new faces on the road this week, though some of them familiar. Returning to the squad are former players Matt Beaulaurier, Trevan Estrellado, Colin Shockman, Micah Weller and Drew Williams. A pair of Northwest Nazarene players, Michael Malloy and Fernando Alvarez, arrived this week from Boise to join the squad, which also includes the addition of Gonzaga’s Connor Ourada.
